The Product
BookOutlet is one of North America's largest online book retailers for discounted books, serving 30–40K daily visitors. I joined as a full-stack engineer in April 2023 and have been building and maintaining features across the stack since.
What I've Built
Accessible, mobile-first features. The primary focus has been shipping features that work for everyone — correct semantics, keyboard navigation, screen reader support, touch-friendly targets — while hitting performance budgets that keep Core Web Vitals green.
CMS migration. Migrated the primary CMS from Builder.io to Contentful, reducing content update time for the marketing team by roughly half. That involved mapping content models, migrating existing content, and updating the integration layer without a visible cutover.
Auth and APIs. Maintain OAuth/SSO auth flows and REST/GraphQL APIs documented with OpenAPI. Integrated Klaviyo for email marketing automation and Constructor.io for on-site search.
Monitoring. Keep 99.9% uptime through proactive monitoring with Sentry — catching issues before they reach users rather than hearing about them afterward.
Results
